Welcome back, Jack here.
I've spent years exploring retreats and monasteries around the world. This newsletter shares my journey to help more people do the same.

February 20th - I’m off to New Zealand!!

here is the spot: Te Moata Retreat Centre

I have been feeling a huge responsibility to deliver something special with retreat #1.

The most important decision to make will be finding the right teacher. And I think the best way to nail that is to experience their teachings myself.

Yesterday I sat a day retreat with Jill Shepherd, a teacher based in New Zealand. It was really good! So I’m following the vibes and heading to NZ to go deeper with her 9 day retreat.

I feel like if I connect with enough teachers, the right partnership will eventually emerge.

What I signed up for

Nine days of silence at Te Moata retreat centre in the Coromandel Peninsula.

This will be my second silent retreat. The first one I did was in Goenka’s Vipassana tradition, which you can read about here.

This one is in the ‘Insight Meditation’ tradition, which is a Western adaptation of Thai and Burmese Vipassana. It’s less intense, less focused on enlightenment and more on bringing practice into daily life.

Want to join me?

This retreat is for experienced meditators, which I know some of you are. They recommend that you have completed at least two silent retreats of seven days or longer. If you want to come with me, here are the details.

Next week I’ll get back to writing about the hike in Nepal, stay tuned!

Business Update

My goal: Host a retreat for at least ONE person.

Retreat = 9 people (waitlisted)
Events = 3 going
Newsletter = 37 subscribers

Next step: Find a teacher.

Right now I’m essentially building my network in the meditation community from scratch. It’s fun, I feel new again. This will be a slow build.

Retreats & Events

If you got this far, I love you.

See you next week!

Jack

P.S. I’m probably going to start filming content on this trip. If anyone can help me navigate which gear I should buy, please let me know.
